It's full of trauma, manipulation, heartbreak,so many secrets, so many lies...... the list goes on. Dark fantasy story that gives me Maleficent vibes, it made me cry in places, it made me angry, but I loved the whole story and now I need to wait for book 2 to find out more about the secrets and lies.''

I am in love with this book.

     I was given this book as an ARC reader and honestly? I wish I’d had to pay for it. I’m not normally a huge fantasy reader but I was instantly hooked. This book deserves every bit of love coming its way. The way Jameson creates conflicted emotions about her characters, the pacing, the plot? I am obsessed.

Page 29 was the point where I went ‘I refuse to put this down until I’ve finished reading. There was maybe three typos that I noticed but I’m also an English tutor - my brain is trained to look for them and it still didn’t take away from the story for me.

Dubheasa is such a complex character and has been written beautifully. I’m looking forward to learning more about her 👀

If you’re going to read, please be aware of trigger warnings but I cannot find anything bad to say.

This is the kind of novel that people read and reread.

Darkness rising by Michelle Jamison (Skinner) is a book that I just could not put down!
There are no sweet fairy tales here. Without spoiling the story too. Much: is so much manipulation and judging of the main character unwarranted. My heart aches for Dubheasa (Hope that spelled right). There is manipulation, hate, so many triggers, romance, so much dark action and adventure.
If you want something different than the happily ever after sweet romances this book is for you.
This book definitely leaves you wanting more. I can't wait for the next part to be out. I'm hooked!
Give it a read. You won't be sorry.

'Darkness Rising by Michelle Jameson was such a fun read. I really enjoyed the mix of dark fantasy, romance, and mystery throughout the book. The character relationships felt really engaging, and the emotional tension between them kept me hooked.

   I also liked how Dubheasa's inner turmoil was written. The constant battle between the good and darker sides of herself felt well handled and added a lot of depth to her character. It made her feel layered and unpredictable.

    I loved the fantasy world Michelle Jameson has created. I went in knowing nothing about it, but I'm really eager to learn more about the history and lore. It feels like a well developed world and it's exciting to experience it.

    Overall, it was addictive, entertaining, and hard to put down. Definitely worth reading if you enjoy darker fantasy with romance and surprises along the way, especially if you like supporting up and coming authors. I'm definitely looking forward to reading the next book.''
